as a journalism major, i’ve had to take some classes that i refer to as “graphic design lite.” i had a class that taught me how to use quark xpress and other page layout software (because of this class i was able to teach myself how to use adobe indesign), and one that taught me photoshop, and one that taught me some design. cool. well, the sad thing is that i’ve had to go to the lab to use any of this software, which makes me sad, because i don’t ever think about uploading photos to my flickr page until the lab is closed, or full for a class. so today, when i found out that you can get a version of adobe photoshop for free, I was ridiculously excited.
i haven’t downloaded my copy of photoshop express yet, but the usa today article does mention that it offers the most basic photoshop tools (cropping, converting to black and white), which is handy. you do get 2 GB of space for free storage of photos, which is nice. the sad part is that i’m guessing that i won’t be able to upload any of the pictures i took with the newspaper camera–file size limit is 10MB.
you can download adobe photoshop express here.
